Ottawa Changes the Groundrules…Disbursement quota scrapped for 2010

(From the Financial Post, Sat. April 24) When the federal government released its 2010 budget, it ignored most of the charitable sector’s recommendations for reform. Shunned were a proposed tax credit to increase charitable spending and a request to strengthen the grants and contributions system.

But the budget did include one gift to the sector: The elimination of the disbursement quota regime that governs how charities manage their spending… (full article)

Court Certifies Class Action Lawsuit over Banyan Tree Leveraged Charitable Donation Program
